HIV Modelling & Economics (HME) is a subgroup of the Social & Mathematical Epidemiology (SaME) group comprises the mathematical modellers and economists who use modelling and economic analysis to look at the potential impact and economic benefits of different prevention strategies for reducing the transmission of HIV and other STIs. Interventions evaluated include those among injecting drug users, female sex workers and their clients, and men who have sex with men. The geographic scope of this research covers settings in Asia, sub-Saharan Africa, South American and Europe. This subgroup was formerly named HIVTools but has recently changed its name to HIV Modelling and Economics (HME).
